Dog Sports/Events

1. Agility

A handler directs a dog through an obstacle course in a race for time and accuracy.  Dogs run off-leash with no incentives.  The handler's controls are limited to voice, movement, and body signals

2. Barn Hunt

Barn Hunt tests proper working traits in their dogs. It is open to any dog regardless of breed, mix, and disability, who wishes to play and can fit through an 18" wide by bale-height tall tunnel.

3. Conformation

A conformation dog show is a comparison of each dog to a judge's mental image of the ideal breed type as outlined in the individual breed's standard.

4. Dock Diving/Jumping

In dock diving, dogs compete in jumping for distance or height from a dock into a body of water.  There are three different events: big air, extreme vertical, and speed retrieve.

5. Hunting

The primary purpose of the Golden Retriever is to hunt.  Our Club would like to inspire members to participate in field events with their dogs, and to help educate those interested in beginning or advancing their field training knowledge and experience.

6. Obedience

In AKC obedience, judges determine how closely dog and handler teams match their mental picture of a perfect performance as they complete a series of exercises.  There are novice, open, and utility levels of competition.

7. Rally

Unlike obedience, you and your dog proceed around a course of designated stations with the dog in heel position.  Handlers may encourage their dogs throughout the course.  There are various classes in AKC Rally: novice, intermediate, advanced, excellent, and masters.

    8. FastCAT

     Fast CAT – which stands for Coursing Ability Test – is a timed 100-yard dash where dogs run one at a time, chasing a lure. It’s over before you know it — and it’s nothing short of awe-inspiring to watch your dog run at top speed, ears back, eyes focused, legs strong. And if your dog is really fast, you might earn brag
